Seeking:
Alec is excited about strong, concept-driven books about the politics, cultures, and environments of the Midwest. Whether it’s narrative journalism, sharp political commentary, zeitgeisty history, or lush nature writing, he looks for authentic authors, stories with a sense of place, and ideas that can capture the national imagination. He is looking for marginalized and subversive perspectives that show the heartland as it actually is, rather than as its stereotypically understood. Right now, Alec is particularly excited about nature writing that explores connections between culture, politics, and the land.
Alec exclusively acquires nonfiction, and is not looking for fiction, poetry, or children’s books.
